What is a flat die pellet mill? How does a pellet mill work?

Flat die mills use a flat die with slots. The powder is introduced to the top of the die and as the die rotates a roller presses the powder through the holes in the die. A cutter on the other side of the die cuts the exposed pellet free from the die.

This household pellet mill has a rotating roller and a stationary die design. Once the powder drops into the mill, the rollers will spin with the diesel engine to force the powder through the holes of dies. In this way different size pellets will be made.

1. Get start with a clean stove. Empty out your stove of all the ashes and heatproof bricks or cast iron grills.

2. Put your pellets into the stove. Open the stove and carefully set these inserts into your burning compartment. Fill the pellet basket with proper amount. It’s all depend on your stove capacity. 

3. Start the stove. Generally the igniter will automatically ignite pellets in 3-7 minutes. If the fire does not start, adjust the air-to-pellet ratio by increasing air flow.

4. Adjust pellets amount and run speed to your desired setting.
