How Does a Wood Chipper Work
On the frontage of chipper disc, there are grooves assigned for installing cutting blades. Wedge-shape adjusting blocks are filled at the bottom of blades to adjust their length outside, while behind blades are adjustable mats for regulating compensation length of worn blades. Along the direction of blades, there are interconnected gaps for the cut wood chips turning to the other side of chipper disc. Outside of disc are evenly deployed blades which can create air to blow wood chips out. After screening, large wood materials re-enter wood chipper for a second time chipping. Affecting factors in wood pellet mill production


Over the last decade there have been two major factors that have been driving the growth of the pellet fuel market. The first is the consistent rise in the cost of fossil fuels and price instability, and the second is the increased attention given to the effects of using fossil fuels such as oil and gas on the environment. Other factors that support the case for pellets is that they are a fuel that can be produced locally, from local wood and biomass materials. Local pellet production and distribution can produce an affordable fuel, while creating local jobs and keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum.

Purchasing a pellet mill is actually a very small part of been able to produce wood or biomass pellets. On the face of it making pellets in a pellet mill may seem very straight forward, you put wood or biomass into the pellet mill and pellets come out the other end. Well, the reality could not be further from the truth as quality wood and biomass pellet compression relies on a combination of principles. These include proper material preparation, proper pellet mill operation and maintenance. However, it is still possible for even the average homeowner to own and operate a small pellet mill. As with every process, its just about knowing what you have to do and when.

1. Raw material
1.1 density: 
The higher density of the raw material, the more pellets can be made.

1.2 particle size: 
The flat die wood pellet mill can operate normally when raw material particle size is less than 60mm. Material with crude fibre and poor adhesion requires fine crushing, for fine grinded particles can arouse fast running speed and low wear and tear.

Moisture content of materials directly affects the grain yield and quality, and the most suitable water should be between 15% -45% in raw material.

2. Operational factors

Another adjustment that can impact heavily on how successfully the pellet mill operates is the distance between the roller and die template. 
Generally the space should be 1.5-2.5mm. The distance set between the roller and die can impact on how much energy the pellet mill uses, the quality of the pellet, pellet mill productivity and the amount of fines produced. Correctly setting up the die on a pellet mill will also increase the life of the roller and die, and reduce the cost of changing these consumable parts.

2.2 clearness of rolls and dies
There always are some iron filing and oxides in new die holes thus to cause friction in pellet production. You can clear the dies or just run the pellet mill for a short time.

Watch out the water content in pellet production to avoid plug. If excessive moisture is added, the meal tends to become slippery beneath the roll assembly. This alters the driving force that turns the roll. The roll will begin to plough the material ahead of itself. The feed has lost its ability to turn the roll. Lack of proper moisture content in the conditioned meal will decrease the tendency of the material to slide through the holes. The resistance from the die holes can become greater than the roll force, which attempts to extrude the meal. A plugged condition will result.
